FRC is Hiring a Child & Family Advocate 

● Position: Child and Family Advocate
Family Resource Center is hiring a Child and Family Advocate to support our growing team. You will be responsible for providing advocacy, supportive care, and accompaniment to victims of domestic and sexual violence with legal and court proceedings, i.e, protective orders, custody, and assault and battery.
Qualifications: Degree in human services or related field preferred, but not required. Experience working with clients and victim services preferred. Knowledge of crisis intervention and criminal justice system a plus. Must be motivated and have ability to be a self-learner.
● Responsibilities:
1. Provide crisis intervention, support and advocacy, safety planning, court and medical accompaniment, and information and referral services to domestic and sexual violence victims, as well as victims of child abuse and neglect, including assistance with law enforcement, magistrates, court intakes, Commonwealth’s Attorneys, prosecutors, attorneys, judges, etc.
2. Provide and/or coordinate transportation and other services to domestic and sexual violence victims and victims of child abuse and neglect.
3. Provide emergency accompaniment services, and other emergency related services according to agency emergency rotation schedule; provides back-up for advocates for court accompaniment when needed.
5. Provide support and advocacy services to secondary victims.
6. Attend meetings and network with allied professionals—especially Legal Aid, Victim Witness, Law Enforcement, and Commonwealth’s Attorneys.
7. Public awareness activities to: a) increase community awareness of the impact of sexual and domestic violence; b) identify crime victims; and c) to educate about Agency services and how to access them.
8. Comply with quarterly statistical and narrative reporting requirements and agency record keeping on all project activities.
9. Participate in projects and on Agency committees as assigned.
● KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: 
-Effective verbal and written communication skills
-Accurate record keeping skills
-Knowledge of social justice issues
-Knowledge of domestic and sexual violence issues
-Valid Virginia Driver’s License
*Spanish-speaking is a plus!
● HOURS: Full Time (32 hours weekly)
