JUNE 2024
June is Elder Abuse Prevention & Awareness Month
Elder Abuse is an intentional act or failure to act that causes or creates a risk of harm to an older adult. Elder abuse includes physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, neglect and financial exploitation. Research shows that 1 in 10 Americans who are age 60+ have experienced at least one form of elder abuse.
During June, FRC works to increase awareness, provide education and offer helpful links to resources to help those who may be experiencing abuse in later life.
